The registered dietitians at Healthier Tomorrows have extensive knowledge and experience working with individuals of all ages and genders struggling with eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia, binge-eating disorder, atypical anorexia, ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) as well as those struggling with behaviors such as food restriction, exercise addiction, compulsive overeating, chronic dieting, and emotional eating. We work with clients who have completed inpatient or residential eating disorder treatment programs and are continuing their recovery process at home, those who are seeking recovery in an outpatient setting, those who have tried diets and weight loss programs and feel uncomfortable in their body, as well as individuals who are struggling to fuel themselves well and exercise appropriately. We are also happy to support families on their recovery journey, and are experienced in Family Based Treatment (FBT).
We offer one-on-one nutrition therapy sessions, in our Lincoln Park office, or virtually, where we create an individualized plan to help our clients overcome the food and nutrition-related obstacles they face and find peace with food and their body. We also offer on-going nutrition support groups for those struggling with unhealthy food and exercise thoughts and behaviors, as well as experiential activities such as meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking lessons and meal outings to local restaurants.
As part of our commitment to improving the health and wellness of our clients, we also work closely with other members of each client’s treatment team, including physicians, therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists. Should a client need additional support, we can provide local referrals in the Chicagoland area, to complete their treatment team, and we are also familiar with the treatment philosophies of treatment centers located throughout the country. This familiarity allows us to work with those clients seeking residential treatment to select the most appropriate treatment center based on their particular circumstances and preferences. It also allows us to work with clients returning from treatment to ensure a smooth and successful transition once they return home to Chicago.
We believe that an experienced dietitian is an integral part of a successful recovery team, providing nutrition information, education, and support while monitoring weight and behaviors, challenging distorted thinking surrounding body weight, food, and body image, and continually adapting the meal plan to the needs of the individual.
