Thank you so much for considering us if you are looking for help and support with weight and metabolism!
Our philosophy around body and weight concerns is unique in today’s diet culture. We’ve described the key elements of our approach below to help you determine if our philosophy and team would be a good fit for you.
We don’t believe in diets. We don’t believe in restricting intake. We don’t believe in overexercise to burn calories.
We do believe in teaching our clients how to nourish and fuel their body by teaching them how to listen to and acknowledge their hunger, their cravings, their thoughts around food, and their hunger and fullness cues.
We believe in helping our clients to understand the nutrients their bodies need, why these are important for their overall health and wellness, and what foods provide the nourishment they need. We believe in being mindful around food, slowing down when possible, and learning to enjoy the social aspects of eating with those they care about. We also believe in the joy that food brings, and also in the ways it can bring us together socially!
We want to help our clients treat their bodies with compassion and kindness, and give themselves the food and nutrients that they need for overall health, energy, vitality, longevity, pleasure and satisfaction.
We want to hear about and understand their journey with food, and their journey with their body. We want to help them approach this process from a body-neutral place, and hopefully work toward more appreciation, compassion, and love for their physical being.
While we don’t believe in diets, restriction, “good” and “bad” foods or guilt around food, we are happy to provide support, suggestions, education, and a positive outlook about this process. We do believe that understanding the body and having compassion and appreciation for how it has served us, is part of the journey.
There is myriad of misinformation in the world about the body, nutrition, metabolism, and weight loss. We are available to provide accurate information about these things and support our clients on their journey – moving away from blame, shame and fear, and moving toward a more positive mindset, an appreciation for the body and an understanding of how diet culture can lead us astray.
All of our dietitians have a non-diet, body positive, health at every size approach. We would be happy to talk to you more about our philosophy, and support you on your individualized journey to fuel and nourish your body!
