An Introduction to MRT: Testing for food-induced inflammatory reactions.

Posted August 11, 2025 · Categories: Health Tips

Woman sitting holding her stomachFeeling bloated, way more often than you’d like?  Experiencing stomach pain or intestinal cramps?  Dealing with frequent reflux?  All of these digestive symptoms may relate to food-induced inflammatory reactions.

Although not commonly correlated, symptoms of migraine, itchy eyes, runny nose, joint pain, and restlessness can also be a result of inflammatory responses from food and food-chemicals.  When your immune system decides that part of a food is dangerous, it decides to mount an attack against it.

Determining the foods and food-chemicals your body is reactive to is key to addressing and alleviating symptoms, but it’s also the most challenging step.  Reactions can take up to 96 hours after ingestion to present. Healthier Tomorrows now offers the Mediator Release Test (MRT), which allows us to determine what foods and food-chemicals trigger an inflammatory reaction in your body.

Unlike other food sensitivity tests, which measure IgG responses, MRT helps you pin down your immune system’s unique response by assessing the endpoint reaction to determine if pro-inflammatory chemicals were released in response to the food / food-chemicals.

Once we are able to identify the inflammatory foods and food-chemicals with MRT, our dietitians establish an individualized LEAP (Lifestyle Eating and Performance) ImmunoCalm protocol with all of the most favorable foods for your body. This protocol supports best possible results.  The LEAP protocol is implemented in phases as a way to clear the noise and reset your immune system, giving the body a chance to reset.

MRT is best suited for individuals whose symptoms are negatively impacting their quality of life.  Rather than side effects, like those from medications, the LEAP protocol offers a long list of side benefits.
